Orlando Museum of Art feature is an ‘homage to the space race’
As the nation waits for NASA’s Artemis II lunar mission to lift off, the newest exhibit at Orlando Museum of Art takes inspiration from the history of space exploration.
Artemis II, with April 1 set as its next launch opportunity, is a critical step toward the future of moon exploration. At the museum, though, artist Dennis Scholl is soaring through the past.
Scholl’s “A Day of Four Sunsets,” which opened Thursday, uses photos, newspapers — and even the Tang powdered drink mix consumed by astronauts — to stir memories in viewers.
“This show’s an homage, really, to the space race,” said Scholl, a collector, artist and filmmaker who’s based in Miami.
